The Journal is where members of The Fourth Season write. Stories from their own lives, thoughts they are still working out, and conversations that began somewhere else and carried on here.
Written by members, not by us
Most of what appears in the Journal comes from people in the community rather than from any editorial desk. That is deliberate. The value of this season of life is the experience held by the people living it.
You do not need to be a writer. You need something you would like to say, and a willingness to say it plainly.
Every kind of writing
A personal essay. A short reflection. Travel notes. A letter to a younger version of yourself. Something you have learned slowly and would like to pass on.
Length is not the measure. Honesty is.
How pieces are chosen
Every contribution is read before it is published, and nothing goes out without the author's permission. If a piece needs a little shaping, we will say so and work on it together rather than quietly changing it.
Submissions open shortly. If you would like to write something in the meantime, the contact page is the place to start.
What you will find here

If you have something you would like to write, we would like to read it. Send a note and we will take it from there.
