Hobbies, experiences, relationships, culture: the things that make a life richer rather than simply fuller. This is the widest part of The Fourth Season, and the easiest to enjoy.
Filling the space, or filling it well
When a diary that was once full becomes open, the temptation is to fill it again as quickly as possible. This section is about the opposite: choosing the few things that genuinely add something.
Some members take up something entirely new. Others return to something they loved at twenty and put down for thirty years.
Old interests and new ones
Gardening, walking, cooking, music, fishing, photography, cycling, volunteering, collecting, restoring, making. There is no hierarchy here and no correct answer.
The only test worth applying is whether you look forward to it.
People, places and culture
Friendships change in this season, and they take more effort than they used to. Culture, too, is part of a rich life: books, film, music, theatre, art, and the pleasure of talking about them afterwards with somebody who was there.
This is where members share what they have read, heard, seen and enjoyed, and where friendships tend to begin.
What you will find here
- Hobbies and pastimes worth starting
- Books, music, film and art worth your time
- Relationships, friendship and family in this season
- Health, movement and rest
- Contributions and recommendations from members
Whatever makes your life richer, someone here will want to hear about it.
